Where is the venue?
The venue for our 2025 edition is the Clydebank leisure centre, Queens Quay, Aurora Ave, Clydebank G81 1BF.
On Saturday evening we’ll head to the Victoria Park Bowling Club, 1284 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, G14 9EU for pizza and a pub quiz.
One or two days?
Since 2025 is our first BroadswordFest organised in Scotland it will be a one day event. In 2026 when the event returns to York we’ll be extending it out to two days.
What is accessibility like?
Please read the venues accessibility documentation:
https://www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk/leisure-parks-events/west-dunbartonshire-leisure/accessibility-leisure/
Where can I get caffeine?
There is a small café on site. There is also a vending area with a hot drinks vending machine.
My tummy is rumbling?
Visit the same place you get your caffeine from!
A tuck shop will be available throughout the day. This is run solely on a trust basis, please donate generously as all proceeds from this will go towards a relevant lovely charity, so do a good deed and buy sweets, it’s for a good cause!
Are there showers and changing facilities on site?
Yes. Use them.
Accommodation? Can we stay on site?
Sadly we cannot offer sleeping accommodation in the venue. I would also suggest chatting to any fellow broadsworders you know may be coming because shared accommodation is often the more cost effective option, and it’s a chance to hang out with even more lovely HEMApeeps.
There are many hotels, guest houses and AirBnB’s in the area that will happily accomodate you.
Is there onsite parking?
Yes. There are 110 spaces available at the venue; although these will be shared with other patrons of the site so we would recommend lift sharing if possible. Please note that parking is for patrons only, cars cannot be left overnight or at any time when you are not using the Leisure Centre facilities.
Can I get there on public transport?
Clydebank train station is a 10 minute walk from the venue. The closest bus stop is is on Ailsa Road, about a 7 minute walk away.
Is there anything else to do in the area?
Clydebank Museum & Art Gallery is a short walk from the Leisure Centre you will be training at on Saturday.
A little bit further afield but we highly recommend the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, it’s full of wonderful things!
Why not visit Glasgow Botanic Gardens or the Glasgow Science Centre, hang out at the Necropolis, or pay homage to Charles Rennie Mackintosh?
There really are oodles of things to do in and around Glasgow:
